“Were costs reduced?” “Did we finish on time?” “Did the project deliver the
projected benefits?”

How many PROJECT REPORTS have you updated, reviewed or approved through the years?

How many projects were on time and on budget but DID NOT DELIVER THE IMPROVEMENT PROMISED?

Why didn’t project projections foretell the shortfall?

Tracking Project Effectiveness involves assigning at least one measure that:

  • links a project to the improvement goal.
  • indicates improvement and sustainability.
  • facilitates project success by linking the measure to those responsible for execution.

Guidelines:

  • Select the project measure based on “WHAT’S NOT WORKING”.
  • Link the measure to part of the process that people control (if applicable).
  • Add the measure to the project report.
  • Trend the measure over the life of the project PLUS 6 MONTHS to confirm sustainability.
  • Share the trend with the workforce.
